Schools2030 Global Forum 2023

How might we foster more inclusive schools and pluralistic learning societies for all by 2030?

PORTO, 2023

In June 2023, Schools2030 hosted the second annual Schools2030 Global Forum in Porto, Portugal, once again bringing together a cross-section of leaders from global, national, and local education ecosystems to collectively explore three key topics and accompanying questions over three days.

This time, some 250 delegates from across the education spectrum – and from more than 35 countries – convened for three days in the beautiful city of Porto to address the critical issue of inclusivity in education.

These included stakeholders from across key educational constituencies including, but not limited to: Youth, Teachers, School Networks, Government Leaders, Education System Leaders, Funders, Researchers, and Civil Society.

New to this year’s Global Forum was a daily plenary session where teachers from across Schools2030 countries presented their ideas, innovations and new practices for improving inclusivity and accessibility of education for the most marginalised groups. The Forum also included a youth workshop, bringing young people from Portugal into conversation with youth from other Schools2030 countries to react to and discuss the Youth Declaration made at TES in September 2022.

Alongside high-level dignitaries from India and Uganda, and with the Ismaili Imamat represented by Prince Amyn Aga Khan, the Minister of Education in Portugal, João Costa, was joined by Kanybek Imanaliev, the Minister for Education and Science for the Kyrgyz Republic, representing the transition to next year’s Forum in Bishkek.
